Emile,
in 1942, created the SIRUGUE cooperage in Nuits-Saint-Georges. In 1950,
the introduction of steel and cement tanks caused a down turn in barrel
sales. Emile decided to turn his attention towards the export market.
He was one of the first Brugundian coopers to export French barrels to
United States,
especially in California, to Mr Zeller-Bach. Thanks to Mr Zeller-Bach's
distinguished and good reputation amongst American wine-growers,
the SIRUGUE barrels became renowned for their quality.

Yves,
in 1978 acquired the SIRUGUE Cooperage from his father Emile and
expanded its operations. Yves especially focused on the international
export market whilst at the same time developing new markets in
Australia, Italy, Switzerland, ect.
In
1991, Yves built a new production facility with a total surface area of
10,000
m2, of which 6,000 m2 are reserved exclusively for the natural
air drying of oak staves.
